Everyday make-up , Contest Entry for TheCurrentCustom

Since I'm still at school my quick go-to everyday make up has to be simple. My favourite look is natural , golden and glowy with black liquid liner on the top lash line. Sound familiar?.. I take make-up inspiration from Lauren Conrad I absolutely love her make-up.

This has got to be one of my favourites. Flawless sunkissed glowing complexion , peachy/pink cheeks , dark liner and long full lashes.
Now I'm not blonde in fact I'm brunette with olive skin so it obviously doesn't look the same ,  but these make-up techniques look beautiful on everyone.

So to get the glowing sun-kissed complexion I start with a good foundation, There are two that I'm currently rotating the first being NARS sheer Glow. I got matched at a NARS counter in Space NK in February so the colour is a little pale but I seriously love this foundation. It says its made for dry to extra dry skin but I have oily and I haven't notice any bad side effects , the foundation glides on smoothly and gives a medium buildable coverage. It lasts for about 6-7 hours depending if I've used a base and a set powder. I don't usually uses a set powder as I like the glowing finish of the foundation and I hate looking cakey. I am definatly going to be picking this foundation up in a shade darker so I can continue using it into the summer, just a lil FYI I use the shade Deauville Light 4.

The second foundation I am loving is the new Revlon Photoready , I was immediately attracted to this when I heard there were glitter particles within the foundation , I must admit i was a little sceptical as I didn't fancy looking like a vampire , or a disco ball for that matter ,but it was cheap so bought it anyway. The shade I picked up was natural beige since I didn't want to get too light and look like a ghost but not to dark that It would look like a spray tan gone bad . It is so much darker than "Deauville light4" I wondered if my "err on thr side of caution" approach had gone a little far. I first applied it with my fingers and surprisingly it looked fine, the colour was maybe a smidge dark but it didn't look stupid and besides I can where it in the summer now. It gives a good medium buildable coverage like the NARS and it lasts a fair amount of time I'd say about 5-6 hours without touch-ups. The glitter is unnoticeable indoors I only noticed that my face was in fact glittering when I was checking it in a compact mirror in direct sunlight, I haven't gotten any comments from anyone so I don't think its too drastic just enough to give you a glow . I have been favouring this foundation because of that reason and because the colour makes me look a little sun-kissed .

Usually I only bother with concealer if I've had a late/rough night and with the odd blemish but recently I've been using Bobbi Brown creamy concealer everyday under my eyes and I have to say I've been loving the results. Bigger, wider and more awake eyes. This concealer is amazing it has good coverage and goes on like a dream also it never looks cakey. The shade I use is Natural in case anyone is wondering.

Moving on to cheeks , I rarely bother with set powder so I move straight on to bronzer and blush. I contour with NARS casino bronzer in the E3 motion but instead of going on top of my cheekbones I bring the colour into the hollow to chizel out my cheekbones. I only do it roughly with a round fluffy brush this way you look natural yet contoured. Now to add some colour I use the same fluffy brush and dust a little NARS Orgasm on to the apples of my cheeks. The key to this look is to have a light hand and blend the colours well , its easier to add more blush than take it away.

Last but by no means least eyes, I always do my eyes last I feel i'm saving the best till last . I am addicted to black eye-liner and I have two signature looks it depends what kind of mood i'm in and what i'm wearing. I have a girly feminine eye with slightly winged out liquid liner on top and a pretty peachy/sandy neutral lid ( all that glitters from mac) with nothing but mascara on bottom.Or a more smudgy smoked out look where I roughly line all the way around my eyes with a brown pencil and smudge it out , I then go in with a brown eyeshadow to set it lastly I use black pencil eye-liner to line the water lines and top lash line then finish off with the best mascara in the world plush lash from MAC. It looks emmense and I feel very rocker chick when wearing this.
Oh I forgot to mention that I always use barestudy paint pot for both looks ,its just a pretty shimmery champagne colour.

This is just an example of the sort of smokey smudged out look I enjoy wearing , which looks gorgeous on Diane Kruger here .

And just for good measure an example of the cat eye.

although there are a lot of steps I hate looking over made up so my holy grail tip is too blend like you life depends on it . I hope this was interesting to read , this is the kind of stuff I tend to read on peoples blogs, If you have any questions comments please don't hestitate to comment
xoxo

  1. How does Photo Ready look in photographs? I've heard there is a ghostly pale look result. Like you I'm also addicted to black liner. It's always a classic =)

  2. I haven't noticed anything maybe because the colour I use is a little dark , but it might be to do with how much is applied as I assume the glitter would give the pale look when it catches the flash? yeah you gotta love the black liner :)
